Job Summary:Accountable for performing a variety of qualitative and quantitative laboratory tests, both manual and automated, of varying complexity to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Other duties include: responsibility for documentation of all activities, monitoring supplies; compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements related to safety and laboratory testing; face to face and telephone customer service; computer data entry and retrieval;
workplace cleanliness and maintenance. Follows all laboratory and hospital policies and procedures.
Essential Functions:
- Analyzes patient samples and evaluates the reliability of test results according to age, gender, and specimen acceptability criteria prior to releasing information for use in patient care and treatment.
- Performs calibration procedures, and analyzes and verifies the acceptability of Quality Control values prior to analyzing patient samples.
- Participates in assigned proficiency surveys, performance improvement activities, and mandatory continuing education programs.
- Performs and documents routine maintenance and minor instrument repairs.
- Performs Laboratory and Hospital Information Systems (LIS and HIS) computer functions involved in preanalytic, analytic, and postanalytic processes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
- MLT(ASCP) - Medical Laboratory Technician or MLT(AAB) - Medical Laboratory Technician or MT(AAB) - Medical Technologist or MT(HEW) - Medical Technologist or MT(ASCP) - Medical Technologist
Also acceptable: CLT (NCA) Upon Hire Required
RequiredMinimum Experience:
Minimum 1 year in a CLIA accredited laboratory Preferred
Required MinimumSkills:
- Extensive organizational skills
- Basic computer knowledge
- Experience in using epic, any LIS, Microsoft software, Outlook, Remisol, etc.
