CMA-Support Nurse

The Assistant Nurse Manager is a registered professional nurse who supports and works in conjunction with the nurse manager of specific units or services. This role is designed for nurses aspiring to become nurse managers and provides experience and mentoring to develop additional knowledge and skills.

• Support the unit nurse manager, promoting the creation of a center of excellence for staff recruitment and retention, and improving clinical and business outcomes.
• Lead staff in daily activities, conduct performance reviews, and provide coaching and counseling as appropriate.
• Hold staff accountable for the delivery of care and services through effective communication, observation, and measurement of specific interventions and their outcomes.
• Assist in achieving clinical and financial goals and manage human/material resources as delegated.
• Model teamwork and collaboration with physicians, staff, patients, and other departments; embody the 5 Star Nursing standard.
• Uphold the Georgia Professional Nursing Practice Act, the nursing scope of practice, and the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics.
• Engage staff in shared governance processes and promote patient‑centered care and service excellence.
• Support the charge nurse and other nurse leaders to ensure the clinical processes of care run as intended.
• Assist with budget development and monitor and meet fiscal outcomes for the unit.
• Apply lean and quality improvement skills to reduce waste and improve performance of operations and clinical systems.
• Communicate effectively to a diverse workforce and mentor others while acquiring progressive managerial responsibilities.
• Promote evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Identify areas for performance improvement and support projects that meet licensure, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
• Use data and evidence to support decision‑making for clinical and operational responsibilities and uphold legal and ethical standards related to patient and staff data.
• Comply with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing.
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in a single state or RN‑Compact (multi‑state Compact).
• National certification in nursing administration is preferred upon hire.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong relationship‑building ability.
• Demonstrated interest in progressive nursing management roles and coaching/mentoring experience.
• Continuous learner with an understanding of health care financing, strategy, and operations for managing a patient‑care unit.
• Proficiency in using data and technology to support work processes and decision making.
• Knowledge of risk management and regulatory, licensure, and accreditation requirements.
