OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH NURSE

OVERVIEW:

The Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) is responsible for promoting andmaintainingthe physical, mental, and social well-being of manufacturing and administrative employees across multiple company locations. This role focuses on preventing and treating work-related injuries and illnesses, supporting employee wellness initiative sand programs, managing occupational and personal medical leave programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a safe and healthy work environment.

The OHN partners closely with Human Resources, Safety, operational leadership, and external medical providers to support employee health initiatives, reduce workplace risk, and ensure compliance with applicable occupational health and safety regulations. This position supports facilitieslocatedin Georgia, Florida, and Canada.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Injury & Illness Management
  • Providesfirst aid and emergency care to employees injured or ill at work
  • Manages all aspects ofworker’s compensation casesfor all worksitesand coordinates with insurance providers asnecessary
  • Assists with the return-to-work process, including assessing fitness for duty and collaborating with management to ensure accommodations for injured workers
  • Manages personal medical illnesses/injuries and coordinates all aspects of FMLA, short term disability, long term disability, and ADA cases
  • Analyzes occupational injury and illness trends and partners with leadership to support proactive risk reduction initiatives
  • Health Surveillance & Monitoring
  • Coordinates OSHA-required medical surveillance programs including audiometric testing, respiratory fit testing, pulmonary function testing, vision screening, and immunization programs
  • Maintainsaccurateand confidential employee medical recordsin accordance withHIPAA and applicable privacy regulations’
  • Maintains medical clinic supply inventory, replenishes when necessary
  • Performs monthly AED inspections
  • Maintains OSHA 300 and 300A logs in conjunction with the Safety team
  • Enforces GIW’s Drug & Alcohol Policy and administers drug screens, makes referrals to EAP, and ensures employees are working safely according to the policies and procedures
  • Employee Health Education & Counseling
  • Provides individualized employee health education, coaching, and support
  • Delivers company-wide occupational health and wellness training programs
  • Coordinates and manages CPR, Bloodborne Pathogen (BBP), and First Aid certification programs
  • Develops and supports employee wellness engagement initiatives focused on overall well-being
  • Coordinates wellness-related events including health fairs, blood drives, flu vaccine clinics, and preventive health screenings
