Job Responsibilities
- Perform hemodialysis treatment procedures, delivering safe and efficient care
- Provide specialized registered nursing care in accordance with state law
- Assess patients and document patient responses to renal failure and treatments
- Recognize changes in patients on dialysis and adjust therapy as necessary
- Respond to emergencies, notify the nephrologist when necessary, and seek direction
- Develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans using a team approach
- Assume primary nurse responsibilities as directed
- Communicate significant information clearly and accurately to team members
- Act as liaison between the head nurse, staff, and patients
- Complete accurate and thorough documentation and paperwork
- Verify the accuracy of treatment orders
- Perform unit operations including setup, reuse, trash removal, water checks, opening and closing, bath mixing, machine and station cleaning, and bath distribution
- Administer medications as ordered and educate patients and staff on medication safety
- Obtain laboratory specimens and perform routine tests
- Delegate responsibilities and follow up on delegated tasks
- Assume day-to-day Charge Nurse functions in the Charge Nurse's absence, including staffing and scheduling
- Educate patients about their disease and treatment
- Follow infection-control policies and evidence-based practices
- Participate in CPR as needed
- Participate in Quality Assurance, IDT, QAPI, performance improvement, training, and continuing education activities
- Report errors, near misses, concerns, complaints, grievances, and improvement opportunities
- Assist with facility/clinic safety and quality culture
- Develop or participate in in-service education programs
- Assist with orientation of new staff
- Maintain confidentiality of patient, employee, and company information
- Prepare daily dialysis logs, laboratory reports, shift setups, and supply orders
- Maintain a neat and clean environment
- Check company email at least weekly and respond appropriately and timely
- Adhere to company policies and perform other assigned duties
- Report to the Unit Leader
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school or equivalent
- Current RN License for Georgia
- Current CPR certification (or within three months of hire)
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English
- One year of Hemodialysis RN experience is required; two to three years of experience preferred
- Experience must be within the past two years
- Strong technical/computer proficiency with laptops, tablets, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, etc.
- Comprehensive background check required after an offer, as required by the Georgia Department of Corrections and applicable law
- Ability to continually stand and frequently bend, walk, twist, crouch, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work the full schedule, which may range from five to fifteen hours per day, based on unit requirements
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance and punctuality
Demonstrates expertise in Hemodialysis Treatment Procedures and patient care planning, ensuring safe and efficient nursing care in compliance with state laws. Proficient in patient assessment, documentation, and emergency response, while effectively communicating with healthcare teams and educating patients.
