About the Upper Grand District School BoardThe UGDSB employs a team of approximately 6,500 dedicated staff who serve more than 35,000 students across 66 elementary and 11 secondary schools, as well as continuing education and adult learning centres in Dufferin, Wellington and Guelph. The board is located on the ancestral, treaty and title lands of two Anishinaabek Ojibwe Nations and a specified tract of land granted to the Six Nations of the Grand River. These lands support Indigenous and non‑Indigenous peoples.
The OpportunityThe UGDSB is seeking a dynamic individual for a casual role on the OCT Casual Supply List. The position covers temporary and/or short‑term administrative and secretarial needs at board offices or schools on an as‑needed basis.
Location:
All geographical areas of the board – North, Centre and East Wellington, Guelph, Orangeville, Dufferin County and Shelburne. Employees may select preferred sites within these regions.
FTE and
Hours:
A full‑time employee could work up to 35 hours per week (1.0 FTE) depending on board needs. Hours are not guaranteed.
Hourly Pay Rate:
Minimum $22.48 per hour, plus vacation pay in accordance with the ESA; wage effective September 1, 2025.
Start Date:
As soon as possible.
- Provide excellent customer service and reception duties.
- Perform data entry, updating and maintaining databases.
- Assist with basic accounting and budgeting records.
- Process student attendance information.
- Utilize software such as Edsembli, Microsoft Office, Google, etc.
- Provide administrative support and other duties as assigned.
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalently recognized education.
- 1–3 years’ experience in an office environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google applications.
- Confidentiality and privacy of student information.
- Flexibility, patience and strong collaboration with administration.
- Experience in bookkeeping and budget management is an asset.
- Familiarity with SDS, School Cash Online and Edsembli databases is an asset.
- First‑aid certification is an asset.
- French language ability is an asset.
- Preference for applicants with prior secretarial experience in an educational setting.
- Reliable transportation and ability to attend specific schools.
