Director Animal Health Laboratory

Become the Director of Animal Health Laboratory at the University of Guelph, driving innovation in veterinary diagnostics and laboratory management for superior client services. This leadership role is critical within the Laboratory Services Division.

The Director position encompasses management of the Animal Health Laboratory, a full-service, accredited facility providing vital surveillance data for Ontario's livestock industry. You will lead a skilled team and manage both operational and financial aspects to maintain laboratory excellence and viability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the daily functions and management of the AHL

• Ensure all veterinary diagnostics meet excellence standards

• Manage an annual operating budget of $22 million

• Collaborate with external agencies on animal health initiatives

• Mentor and lead a team of 120 staff members

Requirements:

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent qualification

• Doctoral degree in relevant veterinary discipline

• Minimum nine years of management experience

• Knowledge of biosecurity and disease mechanisms

• Excellent communication and client service skills
