Athletics and Recreation Senior Director

Position: Athletics and Recreation Senior Director Role
Lead the University of Guelph's Athletics and Recreation department as a Senior Director, enhancing student engagement and institutional standing through strategic oversight. This role is based in Guelph, Ontario.

The University of Guelph is looking for a Senior Director of Athletics and Recreation, with a start in late Summer 2026. This leader will manage an operational budget exceeding $14M and a capital budget of about $2M, as well as oversee a significant team of full-time and part-time staff. Integrating principles of equity and inclusion into all programming will be crucial, as will the collaboration with the Student Affairs Leadership Team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee operational and capital budgets effectively

• Lead and manage approximately 66 full-time staff

• Implement diverse programming initiatives

• Ensure adherence to anti-racist and accessible practices

• Foster community collaboration at various levels

Requirements:

• Proven experience in managing sports-related programs

• Strong financial management skills

• Undergraduate or master’s degree essential

• Experienced in team leadership

• Knowledge of equity and compliance issues

Drive excellence in student services and community collaboration within athletics and recreation at the University of Guelph.
