About The SEED

The SEED is an award winning food access and social enterprise program of Guelph Community Health Centre (GCHC). Through food access, food skills, social enterprise, and community partnerships, The SEED works to reduce barriers to health and wellbeing while building a more just and resilient food system.

The SEED Manager provides strategic and operational leadership across a diverse portfolio of programs, social enterprises, partnerships, and staff, all while ensuring alignment with GCHC’s mission, strategic priorities, and governance framework.

Core Responsibilities CHC Governance & Strategic Alignment
  • Lead The SEED in alignment with GCHC’s strategic plan, advocacy priorities, and vision
  • Participate as part of the GCHC leadership team, contributing to organizational planning and cross-departmental collaboration
Financial Leadership & Oversight
  • Develop, manage, and regularly update The SEED budget
  • Ensure strong financial oversight in collaboration with GCHC finance staff and Director
Grants, Donors, Sponsors & Fundraising
  • Contribute to the GCHC’s comprehensive grant strategy and annual work plan with a focus on opportunities related to resolving food insecurity
  • Lead grant writing and reporting processes for the team
  • Develop and implement donor engagement strategies and work plans alongside the Director and the Fund Development Committee
Human Resources & People Leadership
  • Provide overall HR leadership for The SEED, including performance management, recruitment and conflict resolution
  • Support The SEED’s volunteer needs in partnership with Volunteer and Student Coordinator
Communications & Outreach
  • Work alongside the GCHC’s Communication Coordinator towards the development and implementation of The SEED Communications and Marketing Plans
  • Provide guidance to the GCHC’s Communication Coordinator with respect to The SEED’s social media presence and website content
Social Enterprise and Program Leadership
  • Provide strategic and operational oversight for SEED programs
  • Ensure strong coordination with warehouse operations and logistics
  • Balance social impact goals with financial sustainability
Required Qualifications
  • Proven experience in program management and operations
  • Strong financial management skills and budgeting experience
  • Demonstrated people leadership and Human Resource management skills
  • Experience with grants applications and reporting requirements
  • Experience with donor relations, fundraising, and partnership development
  • Strong systems thinking and community engagement
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Commitment to equity, community-led practice, and food justice
