Overview
Under the direction of the Cook, the Dietary Aide will follow established policies, procedures and standards, assists in the preparation and service of food for the residents, including less complex meal preparation for the Home and cleans production area and equipment. Completes tasks outlined day to day in the preparation of meals and meal delivery to residents at breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The Dietary Aide supports the preparation of nourishments and delivery to Resident areas at a minimum of three times a day.
- Serve meals to residents according to their diet needs and preferences.
- Follow scheduled meal service times.
- Keep food at safe and proper serving temperatures.
- Assist Cooks with basic food prep (e.g., salads, vegetables, fruit).
- Prepare simple foods such as breakfast items, basic desserts, and garnishes.
- Clear dishes, trays, and operate the dishwasher.
- Clean pots, pans, and kitchen utensils following procedures.
- Properly store, label, and handle food and supplies, including leftovers.
- Follow all departmental policies, including safety, fire, quality assurance, and infection control.
- Attend assigned facility meetings and in‑service training sessions.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
- Work cooperatively with other departments to meet resident needs.
- Ensure food preparation and service meet MOHLTC LTC Quality Inspection standards.
- Perform any tasks necessary to support smooth dietary operations.
