Guelph Hyundai is proud to be a part of the Auto Canada dealership network. Auto Canada is the largest Canadian owned and publicly traded automotive dealer group operating in Canada and the US. We are innovative, data-driven and our commitment to our Team Members, customers and operational excellence fuels our success.

Our dealership Team Members are at the heart of our success, building long‑lasting, trust‑based relationships with customers across Canada. Our national network provides opportunities and support to build the career that’s right for you. Working here is fast‑paced, non‑stop, and a little unpredictable—and we love it.

Your area of focus

The Vehicle Acquisition Specialist will interact with potential sellers and buyers over the phone, online and in‑person as we look to purchase quality, pre‑owned vehicles each month from prospective private parties outside of the Auto Canada customer network. The ideal candidate for this role will be responsible for sourcing quality vehicles from the public and working alongside our used car department to quickly recondition these vehicles for resale.

We are looking for someone with a driven and competitive spirit, who is hungry to make money, easily connects with people, and has previous experience working in an automotive sales or sales management role where consistency was the key component to their success.

What drives your day to day?
  • Responsible for all facets of acquiring a used vehicle inventory using direct contacts, generated leads, resale listing sites, private dealers, internet inquiries from customers or any other available avenues
  • Appraise vehicles, understand vehicle conditions, negotiate prices, make financially sound purchasing decisions, and insure the timely processing of all purchases
  • Cold call prospects who have their vehicle advertised for sale online or in local publications, also work with warm leads who reach out to and visit the store for a quote
  • Set appointments with potential customers who would like to visit the dealership for an in‑person appraisal and potential purchase, converting sales inquiries at a high rate while maintaining profitability
  • Deliver a premium internal and external customer experience by responding to inquiries in a prompt, professional, accurate and courteous manner
  • Track customer interest in vehicles not in stock (lost sales)
  • Keep abreast of current market and current valuation of used vehicles
  • Appraise vehicle trades along with the sales manager
What are the must haves?
  • Experience with vehicle acquisitions and auction processes, preferably in a dealership environment
  • Must be 18 years of age or older to meet insurance requirements for operating a motor vehicle
  • Must submit to and adequately pass a pre‑employment background prior to employment
  • Open availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and some holidays knowing that employees are required to stay until the customer’s purchase is complete and their satisfaction ensured
  • 3+ years of experience in a customer-facing role required with experience in retail, sales, marketing, customer retention, etc. Previous automotive industry sales or sales management experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to construct emails and messages in a professional and inviting manner
  • Valid OMVIC license
The Perks
  • Competitive Compensation and Benefits Package
  • Employee Vehicle Purchase & Service Plans
  • Employee and Family Assistance Programs
  • Professional development and the opportunity to grow your career

And those are just the basics. We strive every day to create a workplace culture that embraces diversity and inclusivity, ensures fairness and equal opportunities, and fosters a sense of belonging for all Team Members. As an equal opportunity employer, we actively support everyone in expressing themselves and reaching their full potential.
