Are you a natural connector with a passion for tech and a knack for closing deals? Sandbox Software is on the hunt for a Business Development Representative to help us amplify good in the non-profit and public sector.

This isn’t your average sales gig. You’ll be a key piece of Sandbox’s growing sales team, writing RFPs and proposals while building relationships with libraries, municipalities, and healthcare organizations, and introducing them to our web solutions, hosting packages and accessibility services that make digital transformation simple and impactful.

Role Description

Sandbox Software Solutions is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Business Development Representative to identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities. This role combines outbound sales, relationship development, proposal writing, and RFP coordination to support Sandbox’s growth across libraries, municipalities, healthcare organizations, nonprofits, and other public sector clients.
The Business Development Representative will proactively generate leads, manage sales opportunities, coordinate proposal responses, and collaborate with internal subject matter experts to develop compelling solutions that align with client needs and organizational objectives.

Reports to: Director of Business Development and Partnerships
Works with: Manager of Support, Security & Infrastructure, Vice President of Administration, Proposal Coordinator
Work Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours
Location: Hybrid, remote and at our Guelph location a minimum of two days a week

Expected Capabilities
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in business development, sales, proposal writing, or account management.
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to create persuasive proposals and sales materials.
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience working with CRM systems, Microsoft 365, and project management platforms.
  • Familiarity with public sector procurement processes, RFPs, and bidding portals is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of digital services, web development, hosting, accessibility, and technology solutions is preferred.

Responsibilities Business Development & Sales
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within target sectors.
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospective and existing clients.
  • Conduct discovery meetings to understand client needs, challenges, and objectives.
  • Present Sandbox’s services, solutions, case studies, and value propositions to potential clients.
  • Develop and maintain a healthy sales pipeline through networking, referrals, outreach, and inbound opportunities.
  • Meet or exceed individual sales and revenue targets.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and opportunity status in CRM systems.
  • Conduct follow-up communications with prospects throughout the sales cycle.
  • Monitor market trends and identify emerging opportunities for Sandbox services.
Proposal & RFP Coordination
  • Review and evaluate RFP opportunities on procurement and tender sites.
  • Coordinate go/no-go assessments and prioritize opportunities.
  • Lead the development of proposals, RFPs, quotations, and other sales documents.
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to gather technical, strategic, and operational content.
  • Ensure all submission requirements, compliance requirements, and deadlines are met.
  • Prepare and submit proposals through procurement portals and other submission channels.
  • Coordinate clarification questions, addenda responses, and client follow-up activities.
  • Review and proofread proposal content to ensure quality, consistency, and accuracy.
