What you will doThe Senior Scientist supports Technical Operations for a broad range of consumer cosmetics, OTC drug products, and OTC monograph drug products. Primary activities require a solid understanding of the principles of manufacturing processes and material interactions while developing deeper knowledge and benchmarking with other sites. The senior scientist possesses a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
Working under limited direction, this role collaborates cross-functionally with Operations, Marketing, Quality Assurance, R&D, and other functions as needed to provide technical leadership in the design, development, and implementation of technical solutions for cost reduction and critical initiatives. The individual is expected to implement technical aspects of projects, report metrics, and interact with multi-functional teams to implement projects.
Additionally, the Senior Scientist will ensure quality and compliance through GMP training, adhere to strict compliance with procedures, exercise the highest integrity, identify and report deviations, and support a culture of doing the job right the first time.

- Identify, report, and seek correction for deviations in a timely manner
- Promote employee involvement and commitment to doing the job right the first time
- Apply scientific principles to resolve sophisticated technical challenges and communicate clearly
- Identify opportunities and innovations for product or process optimizations
- Design, coordinate, and execute project tasks per established timelines, including experiments
- Support or lead technology transfer for new products, improvements, and raw material qualification
- Implement requirements of planned experimental design (sample collection, in-process testing, sample management, etc.)
- Prepare or approve technical documents and provide technical advice on SOPs and procedures
- Prepare technical memos, reports, analyses, and conclusions based on scientific rationale
- Own and implement change control deliverables/documentation, investigations, and CAPA follow-up
- Lead investigations related to deviations, stability, complaints, and related root cause analyses
- Lead technical activities for manufacturing process improvements, DOE, scale-up, and validation as needed
- Generate technical documentation including Product Impact Assessments and manufacturing work instructions
- Provide mentorship and direction to less experienced scientists and co-ops
- Decision-making is moderate in scope and authority; may assist in process or equipment validation
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Engineering, or related scientific field
- 4+ years of industry experience
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in Consumer, OTC, or Pharmaceutical industries
- Strong process knowledge related to process/product development
- GMP experience
- Experience in a highly regulated environment
