Job Title

Electrical Apprentice 442A

Job Summary

As an Electrical Apprentice, you will lay out, inspect, assemble, install, repair, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical fixtures, apparatus, control equipment, and wiring for industrial electrical systems. You will also work with motors, generators, wiring systems, lighting systems, and motor drives under the direction of a Licensed Journeyperson. You must follow electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications, and use hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with a Journeyperson and maintenance personnel to gain knowledge and skills as required. Use electrical PPE as needed.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctioning machinery and equipment.
  • Replace faulty electrical components such as relays, switches, motors, and position‑sensing devices.
  • Read and interpret drawings and electrical code specifications to determine the layout of industrial electrical equipment installations.
  • Install power‑supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment.
  • Connect power‑supply wires to machines and equipment and connect cables and wires between machines and equipment, following manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints, using hand tools and test equipment.
  • Install, diagnose, examine, replace, or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, cable assemblies, lighting fixtures, and other electrical components using hand tools.
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.
  • Maintain, repair, test, and install electrical motors, generators, industrial storage batteries, and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems.
  • Participate in preventative maintenance programs and inspect equipment as per policy requirements.
Academic / Educational Requirements
  • Must be a registered electrical apprentice, third year or higher preferred. Have a working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and electronics.
Required Skills / Experience
  • Candidates must have five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team‑based environment.
  • Must demonstrate multi‑tasking skills and adapt to a rapidly changing work environment.
  • Must be well organized and able to work under direct supervision.
