About the Role

Würth Canada is a high-performance organization built on humanistic values. We need a Maintenance Technician with prior experience repairing and maintaining warehouse/industrial equipment, ensuring safe and reliable operation of conveyors, shuttle systems, and other automation equipment.

Duties
  • Install, troubleshoot, align, and perform scheduled maintenance on the Knapp shuttle system, conveyors, carton erectors, packaging machines, and other warehouse automation equipment during installation, set‑up, and repair.
  • Conduct regular inspections and examinations on machinery and equipment to detect and identify irregularities, malfunctions and potential issues before they occur.
  • Read blueprints and diagrams to determine work procedures.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with vendor hotline support to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Adjust machinery and replace or repair defective components, including motors, sensors, belts, and other mechanical or electrical parts.
  • Support scheduled facility maintenance and repairs by partnering with contractors as needed.
  • Support facility upgrades and renovations.
  • Perform general maintenance of building and grounds.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, work orders, and spare parts usage.
  • Track and manage spare parts inventory to ensure critical components are always available.
  • Ensure major equipment, including conveyors, are cleaned regularly to maintain peak efficiency and compliance within operational standards.
  • Perform other routine maintenance work on machinery.
  • Promote and comply with Health and Safety policies and procedures, including appropriate use of PPE, Lockout, WHMIS, etc.
  • Work closely with Health and Safety personnel to ensure all repairs and maintenance comply with safety regulations.
  • Conduct routine safety checks on equipment and report hazards immediately.
  • Attend monthly JH&S Committee meetings.
  • Oversee the maintenance of other equipment as needed, such as material handling equipment and warehouse automation systems.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance the performance and reliability of equipment.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in industrial maintenance.
  • Monitor and control maintenance expenses, supplies and inventories.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
Requirements
  • Completion of secondary school or a vocational program is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years in industrial maintenance, mechanical repair, or similar roles specializing in automation.
  • Experience with automated systems such as the Knapp shuttle system, conveyors, and packaging machinery is required.
  • Strong mechanical and automation troubleshooting skills are required. Electrical skills are an asset.
  • Proficiency in using maintenance software to manage work orders and parts inventory.
  • Basic programming knowledge (e.g., PLC troubleshooting) is an asset.
  • Experience ensuring all maintenance activities comply fully with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), following safety protocols, conducting regular safety inspections, and promoting a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Experience and understanding of hazardous goods movement and storage of materials and maintaining equipment safely within that environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders and maintain detailed maintenance records.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (intermediate).
  • Self‑starter who can perform in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment.
