We are seeking a passionate and practical Assistant Ranger to help manage and enhance our stunning 400-acre rural estate at Merrist Wood College. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a unique environment that supports the next generation of professionals in arboriculture, forestry, countryside management, horticulture and other land‑based industries.
As Assistant Ranger, you will play a vital role in maintaining our woodlands, conservation areas, green spaces and countryside habitats, ensuring they are safe, attractive, environmentally sustainable and fully supportive of student learning.
This is a permanent, full‑time role working 37 hours per week based at our Merrist Wood College campus.
What do you need to be a successful Assistant Ranger at Activate Learning?
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with:
- Experience in countryside, estate, woodland or land‑based management
- Practical skills in woodland maintenance, habitat management and conservation work
- Experience operating land‑based machinery and equipment
- A strong understanding of health and safety and environmental best practice
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- • The ability to organise work effectively and work independently when required
- A passion for conservation, sustainability and supporting learner development
