Role Description The Workshop Plant Fitter role is a full-time, on-site position based at the company’s workshop in Guisborough. The role involves diagnosing faults, carrying out routine servicing, and performing mechanical repairs on a range of plant and machinery. Daily tasks include inspecting equipment, completing planned maintenance, replacing worn or damaged components, and testing machines to ensure safe and efficient operation.
The Workshop Plant Fitter will maintain accurate service records, follow health and safety procedures, and keep the workshop clean and organized. The role also requires occasional support to colleagues, communicating clearly with supervisors, and ensuring work is completed within agreed timescales.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience working on plant, heavy equipment, or commercial vehicles.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, service schedules, and basic engineering drawings.
- Competence in fault-finding, using hand and power tools, and carrying out mechanical repairs safely.
- Good understanding of workshop health and safety practices and safe use of lifting and support equipment.
- Relevant vocational qualification or apprenticeship in mechanical engineering, plant maintenance, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Reliable, organized, and able to manage tasks independently while communicating effectively within a small team.
- Willingness to learn, adapt to different types of plant and machinery, and undertake further training where required.
