Accountant, Financial Reporting, Accounting Manager

Job Description

It is the primary responsibility of the Staff Accountant to perform varied accounting functions including assisting with the preparation of monthly financial statements per Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and established company policies, preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, and performing ad-hoc accounting projects as requested by management.

• Record transactional activity timely and accurately in the general ledger.
• Evaluate and implement internal controls so that processes are operating effectively.
• Provide necessary reporting on financial data, ensuring all requested reporting (ad-hoc and routine) are completed in a timely manner and contain accurate information.
• Ensure accounting records and practices adhere to GAAP and company accounting policies and remain standard across all business units.
• Enhance internal customer service through the implementation of reporting and processing improvements maintaining a service-oriented approach within all functional responsibilities.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and international regulatory requirements including SOX, gaming regulations, minimum internal control requirements, IRS, anti-money laundering laws, and internal control requirements.
• Participate in project implementation for systems and/or processes related to the corporate department initiated by other departments and/or by the department to ensure that requirements are met and/or work efficiently enhanced.
• Lead, drive, communicate and be accountable for shared service strategies that deliver high-quality, cost-effective, and value support services across the company.

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

• No supervisory/management authority.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business management, or equivalent work experience.
• One (1) year of accounting/audit experience.

• Ability to obtain and maintain licensing by the appropriate gaming authority.

• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), accounting practices, and theories.
• Working knowledge of change management to include participating in the development or implementation of solutions that require comprehensive shifts in operational practices.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts.
• Excellent organizational skills to function effectively while still maintaining attention to detail and meeting established deadlines.
• Ability to work in a high stress fast paced environment managing multiple tasks, projects, and personnel simultaneously. Must possess the ability to prioritize conflicting duties and maintain timeline integrity for projects and tasks.
• Ability to determine appropriate strategies and business plans to meet performance requirements.
• Ability to strive for continuous improvement including the ability to develop and execute innovative ideas, projects, and business solutions.
• Ability to guide design and strategy for use of electronic system tools to improve processes, mine data, extract, and report data.
