We support all AWS data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure customers have continual access to innovation. As a Data Center Construction Manager, you will join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers to build energy‑efficient, cost‑effective Amazon Data Centers. You will act as the owner’s representative on construction sites, driving cost, schedule, and quality while managing vendors and contractors.
Responsibilities- Construction project management and oversight of new builds or general capital projects, owning scope, quality, schedule, and budget.
- Direct interface with general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and closeout phases.
- Conduct negotiations with contractors and evaluate bids with detail and accuracy.
- Create construction project scope and request for proposals.
- Perform financial analysis of construction projects.
- Lead initiatives to increase data center resiliency.
- Conduct constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs.
- Manage construction documents including submittals, RFIs, change orders, and invoicing.
- Ensure construction quality control.
- Record and report key construction metrics to team members and management.
- Lead troubleshooting and root‑cause failure analysis for equipment failures.
- Act as a leader within internal and external teams supporting the data center.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of construction management experience on large, complex MEP projects.
- 4+ years of general contractor and vendor management experience (RFPs, bidding, change orders, quality control, RFIs).
- 4+ years of experience constructing electrical engineering systems (e.g., power distribution, generation gear) and mechanical engineering systems (e.g., cooling).
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations (Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, OSHA).
- Understanding of electrical engineering principles (switch gear, UPS, transformers, circuit breakers) and mechanical engineering principles for cooling systems.
- Experience in design or construction of data centers or critical infrastructure.
- Ability to use data to justify conclusions and reduce costs through creative solutions (value engineering).
- Capability to read and interpret construction specifications and drawings for all disciplines; define system architecture, specify document performance, and communicate designs.
- Experience in controls and commissioning of large‑scale projects, including power management and monitoring systems.
