Clerk Coordinator - Radiology (Pascagoula, Ocean Springs, Gulfport)
Location:
Pascagoula, Ocean Springs, Gulfport Hospital, Mississippi, United States. Part‑time position – first shift, 6:30 am to 5 pm at most locations.
The Clerk Coordinator is the first point of contact in the Radiology department and must ensure a pleasant experience for both patients and visitors. The Clerk Coordinator minimizes medical risk to the patient and liability by correctly identifying the patient with the appropriate identification band and patient labels, and verifying orders for the correct procedure. The Clerk Coordinator is responsible for the clerical functions of the department, including answering phones, transferring calls, taking messages, scheduling appointments and tests as needed, processing and coordinating requests, printing, scanning, faxing, and distributing documents when and where needed;
copying images to CDs and releasing records as requested by following the Release of Information policy. The Clerk Coordinator maintains continuous contact with the public, patients, other hospital personnel, and the medical staff, always carrying out the responsibilities of the position with professionalism. Expectation is for all performed duties to be in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health‑care employees.

Physical DemandsWork is moderately active: involves sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office, move through the facility, and travel to another facility within the SRHS service area. Work involves exerting a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work involves repetitive motions: substantial movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers while operating standard office equipment such as computer keyboard, copier and 10‑key.
Work involves being able to perceive the nature of sound at normal speaking levels with or without correction; the ability to make fine discriminations in sound. Work requires close visual acuity and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus, i.e. shift gaze from viewing a computer monitor to forms/printed material that are closer to compare data at close vision.
Must be able to remain active for extended periods without experiencing undue fatigue. Must be able to work flexible hours.
Must demonstrate keen mental faculties, assessment and decision‑making abilities. Must demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone. Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. Must possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high‑stress levels. Must demonstrate ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Attention to detail and the ability to multitask in complex situations is required.
Must have strong interpersonal skills.
Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette. Must possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.). Must have intermediate knowledge of MS Office Outlook, Word, and Excel. Must demonstrate a basic understanding of medical terminology.
Work requires the ability to function independently, adapt to workload demands, set priorities, and understand and set goals.
Must have a valid driver license as job requires traveling throughout the SRHS service area – with the employee providing his/her own transportation.
