Gulfport Behavioral Health System is a 90‑bed psychiatric hospital offering child, adolescent, adult and military service behavioral health programs and treatment services.
Position SummaryThe Mental Health Technician (Part‑time M‑F 3:30 p‑m to 7:30 p‑m) functions as an active part of the outpatient treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients seeking treatment through our outpatient programs (adolescents, adults, and substance use disorders). The MHT works under the direction of a Registered Nurse and may transport patients or perform other driving responsibilities and assist with cleaning in apartments for patients who are boarding during outpatient treatment.
The position is Part‑Time Monday‑Friday 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Assist and supervise patients in outpatient treatment; provide continuous care and interaction; serve as a positive role model; transport patients as needed; maintain cleanliness of patient apartments.
Qualifications- Education: High School Degree or equivalent preferred. Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or another therapeutic discipline desirable.
- Experience: One year of related experience with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness preferred.
- Licensure: Must maintain a valid driver’s license in the applicable state.
- Additional Requirements: Successful completion of pre‑employment online assessment, CPR, and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training. Certifications may be obtained during new hire orientation. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
