Summary

The Custodian performs a variety of cleaning, housekeeping, and semiskilled duties for the fitness facility, including facility cleaning, equipment maintenance, laundering, minor repairs, outdoor maintenance, and inventory management of cleaning supplies. Supplies, merchandise, and equipment are delivered to other locations, furniture and program equipment are moved as needed, and event setups (e.g., tables and chairs) are assisted.

• Scrubs, strips, waxes, and polishes floors using heavy powered scrubbers and buffers.
• Vacuum cleans rugs with heavy industrial vacuum cleaners.
• Adjusts, cleans, oils machines, and changes brushes, rollers, buffers, and other attachments.
• Washes and replaces venetian blinds, changes light bulbs, washes ceiling fixtures and room partitions using ladders and scaffolds.
• Moves heavy furniture, supplies, and equipment; in living quarters, makes beds, changes linens, and collects soiled linen.
• Keeps rest rooms clean, orderly, and sanitary.
• Cleans, disinfects, and deodorizes lavatories, urinals, and toilet bowls.
• Cleans mirrors, sinks, and water fountains.
• Dusts ledges and woodwork.
• Replaces deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap.
• Maintains a stock of cleaning materials and equipment and notifies supervisor when additional supplies are needed.
• Cleans showers, sauna, and steam rooms.
• Performs other related duties as required.

• Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successfully complete a background investigation.
• Must successfully pass the E‑verify employment verification check.
• Ability to read signs and follow simple oral/written instructions.
• A valid State driver’s license is required to operate motor vehicles.
• Must have salary sent to a financial institution by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
• Must be able to safely operate powered equipment and perform minor maintenance on this equipment.
• Have the ability to learn MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets).

In order to qualify for this position, the resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position. Experience includes both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer activities.

One year of specialized experience directly related to the duties described above is required, with evidence that the experience was equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression.
