Job Description:
We are seeking a Manufacturing Technician C (Instrumentation) to join our team at Stennis Space Center, MS.
In this role, you will perform a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive manufacturing assembly and test operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies for cables and harnesses. You will perform functions associated with all manufacturing operations, including working with engineers in set-up and calibration tasks, as well as performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies, and final assemblies.
You will also use sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate operating data to conduct on-line adjustments to products, instruments, or equipment.
Essential Functions:
- Applicants must have experience with and an ability to read wire tables and wire routing, wire diagrams, blueprints, schematics, color codes, measurements, mathematics, and both power and manual cable building tools.
- Use pinning and stripping tools, make all types of connections, identify breakout positions, sleeve types, and braid requirements.
- Solder to terminals, connectors, and braid.
- Determine and assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process.
- Be familiar with and capable of conducting continuity and resistance testing, (C&R).
- Work autonomously. Act as a mentor to lower-level peers and provide guidance on tasks.
- Communicate with contacts typically within and outside the department on matters that involve explaining complex assignments.
- Work on complex assignments requiring development of concepts and techniques.
- Follow established processes to complete tasks.
- Identify problems and issues.
- Work to achieve operational targets within job area which has significant impact on the overall achievement of results for the team.
- Must be well versed in FOE / FOD, 6S, tool control, and lean processes.
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience or 2-year post-Secondary/associate's degree with a minimum of 1 year of prior related experience.
- Proven experience in a manufacturing assembly and testing environment, preferably within the aerospace or similar high-precision industry.
- Ability to read, interpret and understand written documents, drawings, procedures, specifications, and requirements to perform assigned tasks.
- Experience with and ability to read wire tables and wire routing, wire diagrams, blueprints, schematics, color codes, measurements, mathematics, and both power and manual cable building tools.
- Proven ability to follow detailed work instructions and procedures needed.
- Effective communication (both written and oral)
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations
- Strong electrical/mechanical assembly understanding
- Strong understanding of electrical testing (DMM, oscilloscope, megger. etc.)
- Ability to handle precision clean parts.
- Knowledge of contamination control processes and techniques, clean rooms, FOE/FOD, etc.
- Familiarity with 5S+1 and lean procedures
