The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice RN who collaborates with physicians to deliver health care services for patients with complex acute, critical, and chronic conditions. The NP provides care to a population of patients within their scope of certification and education.

Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master’s Degree in Nursing.

Mississippi State Licensure as a Nurse Practitioner required.

• Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, or Acute Geriatric Nurse Practitioner required. Must complete and maintain BCLS upon hire and/or transfer.
• If working in Psychiatric Services, maintain current Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
• If working in Surgical Services, complete and maintain BCLS and ACLS certifications upon hire and/or transfer.
• If working in Pediatrics, maintain required specialty certification;
  Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP) preferred. Must complete and maintain BCLS and PALS certifications upon hire and/or transfer.
• If working in Wound Care, maintain required specialty certification. Must complete and maintain BCLS and ACLS certifications upon hire and/or transfer.
• De-escalation training completed within 90 days of orientation, with appropriate level of de-escalation training.

• One (1) year of advanced nursing experience preferred.
• If working in Psychiatric Services, a minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care or psychiatric hospital required. Previous experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in an inpatient and outpatient setting preferred.

Supervising Physician and/or Medical Director;
Administrator, Director of Physician Services, Director or Surgical Services, Operations Director, or designee (for non-clinical).

Moderately active work involving sitting and frequent movement within the facility; occasional travel to other SRHS facilities. Requires negligible force to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects, including patients. Exposure to body fluids and repetitive wrist, hand, and finger motions while operating standard office equipment.

Requires keen assessment and decision-making abilities, superior communication skills, emotional stability for high stress, ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, maintain attention to detail, and multi-task in complex situations. Must maintain collaborative relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations.

Superior customer service skills, professional etiquette, and proficiency in computer use (MS Outlook, Word, telephone, fax, etc.).
