The HVAC Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems, including heating, cooling, humidification, dehumidification, ventilation, high‑temperature water systems, domestic and hydronic water systems, and associated electrical components. This position supports a government contract and requires the ability to obtain and maintain base access.
Duties / Responsibilities- Operates, maintains, monitors, and updates DDC controls to ensure safe and efficient HVAC system operation.
- Performs diagnostic testing, troubleshooting, and analysis of HVAC system issues.
- Conducts preventive maintenance on actuators, valves, dampers, and related components.
- Coordinates with multiple trades in maintaining and repairing equipment and systems.
- Observes and interprets gauge, meter, sensor, and chart readings to ensure proper performance.
- Records system operation data and maintains accurate logs.
- Performs maintenance on mechanical equipment including air handlers, cooling towers, fan coil units, valves, and VAVs.
- Troubleshoots and performs minor repairs on boilers, chillers, pumps, air handlers, fan coil units, VAVs, and related mechanical systems.
- Provides minor after‑hours repairs when needed.
- Reviews PM activities and recommends improvements to equipment reliability.
- Recommends improved maintenance methods or process enhancements.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems; assists coworkers in troubleshooting when needed.
- Maintains all tools and equipment in safe, operable condition.
- Present a professional and customer‑focused attitude at all times.
- Completes work assignments, work tickets, and documentation accurately and on time.
- Maintains strong communication with management, employees, and customers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain base access in accordance with government requirements.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
- Valid state driver's license.
- HVAC Journeyman's License.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical theory, building codes, and air quality regulations.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions, schematics, and technical documents.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Must maintain eligibility to drive company or government vehicles.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum three years of HVAC experience within the past five years.
- HVAC state license(s).
- Prior experience on government contracts or military installations.
- OSHA‑10 certification.
- Experience with Building Automation Systems.
