Steel Framing Tech

The Steel Framing Technician is responsible for assembling, installing, and securing structural steel components for buildings and other structures. This role involves working with beams, columns, and metal framing systems, ensuring proper alignment, stability, and safety throughout the construction process.

• Assemble and install structural steel framing, including beams, columns, and supports
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications
• Align, level, and secure steel components using bolts, welds, or other fasteners
• Assist with rigging and guiding steel components into place during lifting operations
• Use hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely and effectively
• Perform measurements and ensure accuracy of installations
• Conduct inspections of installed components for quality and safety
• Follow all safety procedures and regulations on job sites
• Assist with general construction tasks as needed

• High school diploma or GED required
• Experience in steel framing, structural steel, or construction preferred
• Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
• Valid driver’s license preferred

• Understanding of structural steel installation methods
• Ability to work at heights and on elevated structures
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• Strong work ethic and reliable attendance

• Work at heights, including on scaffolding and steel structures
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Exposure to noise, dust, and heavy equipment
• Ability to lift, carry, and position heavy materials
• Ability to stand, bend, climb, and perform physically demanding tasks
