Accounting Manager
The Senior Accountant supports the Controller in managing all accounting and financial reporting functions for the company. This role is responsible for overseeing Accounts Payable, general ledger coding and costing. The Senior Accountant ensures that all financial processes are accurate, efficient, and aligned with company policies, providing critical insight into production costs, variances, and operational performance. This position plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial data, supporting audits, strengthening internal controls, and contributing to budgeting and strategic financial planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the Accounts Payable process, ensuring accurate coding, timely payments, and proper approval workflows.
- Evaluate current AP processes and identify areas for improvement.
- Review and approve general ledger coding and cost allocations to ensure accuracy and consistency with company policy.
- Reconcile inventory, work-in-process, and cost of goods sold accounts, ensuring proper accounting treatment and documentation.
- Support the Controller with monthly and year-end closing, including journal entries, reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls to ensure compliance, accuracy, and safeguard of company assets.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, HR, and Payroll teams to ensure seamless integration of production, labor, and cost data into financial reporting.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and documentation.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and transparency of accounting workflows.
- Assist management team with planning and executing new software development projects such as a production inventory system.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or food production environment.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting, production accounting, and inventory control.
- Experience overseeing Accounts Payable and general ledger functions.
- Solid working knowledge of GAAP and internal control best practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
