Job Description
This role supports the aircraft paint process by performing surface preparation, composite prep, sanding, cleaning, masking, and sealing to ensure aircraft are ready for paint. Day to day, the individual will remove old coatings, smooth surfaces, eliminate contaminants, and prepare panels for primer and paint application. They will also assist with basic paint application, including spraying primer and military-grade coatings while following established quality standards.
The position requires attention to detail when masking aircraft components, trimming materials, and protecting sensitive surfaces throughout the paint process.

- Basic composite prep
- Removing loose paint from surfaces
- Feathering edges of properly adhered coatings to allow seamless blends of subsequent coatings (primer and paint)
- Removing contaminates (trash) from panels prior to high build of primer
- Able to sand down high spots with appropriate abrasives such as sanding blocks, orbitals, and hand sanding
- Basic paint application
- Familiar with spray gun usage for applying primer after composite prep
- Able to spray lower grade paints such as CARC (standard military grade paint)
- Basic aircraft prep for paint
- Cleaning surfaces and removing contaminates prior to masking and painting
- Taping and masking of aircraft around windows, tires, sensitive components, etc...
- Careful use of razor blades to trim excess tape and masking away without damaging aircraft surfaces
- A clean application of sealant around various panels prior to paint
