QUALIFICATIONS
* License:
A. Professional Educators License (PEL), with Endorsements in General Education (K-5), and Math (Grades 6-8), and/or Language Arts (Grades 6-8)
* Education:
A. Required - Bachelor's Degree
B. Preferred - Master's Degree in Language Arts or Math
* Experience:
A. Required - A minimum of 3 years Elementary or Middle school teaching experience.
B. Preferred - A minimum of 3 years Elementary or Middle school teaching experience in a public-school setting, plus experience participating in professional development in Gifted Education.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Has command of the subject matter and effectively implements the Woodland District 50 curriculum including Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Illinois State Standards.
2. Uses a variety of instructional techniques and differentiates instruction to meet the individual needs and interests of the students.
3. Contributes to and models a positive school climate through the support of the district's Strategic Plan and Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) program.
4. Collaborates with staff and paraprofessionals to meet the needs of students with special needs.
5. Maintains control of storage and use of school-owned property. Keeps supplies in good working condition. Is responsible for all materials as well as manages repair of equipment.
6. Collaborates, as needed, with appropriate school personnel regarding students who may need specialized interventions.
7. Uses a variety of avenues to communicate regularly with parents and school personnel regarding students' levels and rates of progress.
8. Uses a variety of assessment tools that support district curriculum and Common Core State
Standards.
9. Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students varying needs and Interests.
10. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil conduct in alignment with the Parent/Student Handbook and PBIS in order to provide for a safe, orderly, and productive environment.
11. Evaluates teacher/parent requests for student placement into the Advanced Language Arts and Advanced Math Program.
12. Plans for and implements challenging lessons for advanced students in the area of Language Arts/Math on a daily basis.
13. Communicates program goals to the school community.
14. Keeps teachers, parents, building administrators and the Director of Curriculum, Assessment and Accountability informed regarding recommendations and student progress
15. Maintains an inventory of advanced materials and orders materials when necessary.
16. Maintains accurate, complete and up-to-date records of student attendance, projects, and
grades.
17. Uses a variety of avenues to communicate regularly with parents and school personnel regarding students' levels and rates of progress.
18. Administers state and local standardized ability and achievement tests and interpret results to determine student strengths and area of need.
19. Attends and participates in team, department, faculty meetings, and professional development.
20. Keeps up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and makes relevant changes to instructional plans and activities to meet the needs of all students.
21. Adheres to all school and district policies and procedures, including maintaining confidentiality.
22. Performs other such duties and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned by School Principal or the Director of Curriculum, Assessment and Accountability.
OTHER PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide service and assistance at all District schools as needed.
2. Assist in other areas as needed.
3. Complete other duties as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Planning and Preparation - Organize instruction and learning activities grounded in a strong understanding of curriculum, content standards, and individual student needs;
Develop and adapt lessons, units and learning materials that are responsive to students' strengths, interests, and
cultural identities;
Take significant ownership of designing and implementing instructional plans, either through original creation or adaptation of existing resources;
