Special Education Teacher – Self-Contained Classroom
Location:
Gurnee, IL
Job Type: contract for 26-27 school year
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Pay: $55/hr or $2200 weekly
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to support students in a self-contained classroom setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with diverse learning and behavioral needs and be committed to creating a supportive, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction and support to students in a self-contained classroom.
- Assist students in addressing academic, behavioral, and developmental delays.
- Develop and implement individualized instructional strategies based on student needs.
- Support students requiring special education services.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and other school staff.
- Consult with school staff regarding appropriate academic and behavioral interventions.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional approaches as needed.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and communication regarding student needs and progress.
- Promote a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment.
Requirements
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement.
- Special education teaching experience preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a self-contained classroom environment.
