Management Analyst

The Village of Gurnee is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and customer and resident-focused Management Analyst to support the administration, coordination, and implementation of various governmental functions, special projects, and communication initiatives. This position provides professional administrative and analytical support to the Village Administrator and departmental leadership through research, policy analysis, public communications, budget assistance, and project coordination. The ideal candidate will possess strong written and verbal communication skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and an interest in municipal government and public administration.

This position performs a variety of professional and administrative duties requiring sound judgment, attention to detail, confidentiality, and regular interaction with elected officials, Village staff, residents, businesses, and community stakeholders.

Examples of Duties

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • General administrative duties and special assignments for the Village Administrator and Department Heads
  • Communicate administrative policies, procedures, programs, services, and initiatives to residents, businesses, the media, and other stakeholders; respond to public and media inquiries and support Village public engagement efforts
  • Develop, coordinate, and distribute public information through a variety of communication channels, including the Village website, social media platforms, newsletters, informational mailings, press releases, public information campaigns, and other outreach materials
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, agreements, contracts, ordinances, resolutions, proclamations, and other official documents, some of which may contain sensitive or confidential information
  • Attend meetings and special events before and after regular business hours as required
  • Respond to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and coordinate the collection and review of responsive records
  • Maintain records and documentation in accordance with federal, state, and Village requirements
  • Assist with administration of franchise agreements and other intergovernmental or service agreements
  • Assist with project management, implementation, and monitoring of assigned initiatives including website development, strategic planning, committee meetings, etc
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Political Science, Communications, Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, or a related field
  • One to three years of progressively responsible administrative, analytical, communications, or municipal government experience
  • Comparable internship experience may be considered
  • Enrollment in or completion of a Master of Public Administration (MPA) or related graduate program is desirable

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of municipal government operations, public administration principles, and local government practices
  • Knowledge of public relations, marketing, and community engagement strategies
  • Familiarity with municipal laws, ordinances, regulations, and Freedom of Information Act requirements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, website content management systems, social media platforms, and other relevant technology applications
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Supplemental Information

Anticipated hiring salary for this full-time position is $97,428 annually, depending on qualifications. Full salary range for this position is 97,.80 annually plus, a generous benefit package including health, dental, and vision benefits, employer-paid life insurance and other ancillary benefit options. Retirement benefits through the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) are provided along with the option to participate in a 457(b) deferred compensation plan.
