Role Overview :
We are looking for an experienced Patent Engineer with 1–5 years of patent experience, ideally from a law firm or premium IP services organization. The role requires deep expertise in patent drafting and prosecution, strong client communication, and the ability to lead teams and manage projects independently.
Key Responsibilities
Patent Drafting & Prosecution
Lead and independently draft high-quality patent applications (provisional, complete, PCT, and national phase).
Draft and review claims with strong legal and technical rigor, meeting law-firm quality standards.
Handle office action responses (primarily US, EP, and other major jurisdictions) with strategic claim amendments and arguments.
Perform final quality reviews before client delivery.
Technical & Strategic Analysis
Conduct invention disclosure reviews, novelty assessments, and patentability analyses.
Work closely with inventors and clients to identify inventive concepts and define claim strategies.
Provide strategic inputs on filing approaches, claim scope, and prosecution pathways.
Project & Portfolio Management
Own end-to-end delivery of multiple client projects and patent portfolios.
Manage timelines, workloads, and quality across drafting and prosecution engagements.
Support clients with portfolio planning, pruning, and long-term IP strategy.
Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and review work of patent engineers and junior team members.
Ensure adherence to drafting standards, best practices, and delivery timelines.
Act as a technical and quality escalation point for the team.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
Act as a primary client-facing contact for invention harvesting calls and review discussions.
Communicate effectively with patent attorneys, examiners, and internal stakeholders.
Deliver clear, concise, and professional written and verbal communication.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
1–5 years of hands-on patent experience, preferably from a law firm or reputed IP services firm.
Strong expertise in patent drafting and prosecution (US preferred).
Proven experience in team leadership and project management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
