ROLE OVERVIEW
- The Head – Legal & Compliance will lead and own all legal, regulatory, and compliance aspects of AGRIM's operations. This is a senior leadership role that positions legal as a strategic partner to the business, not a downstream approver.
This role will work directly with the Founders to design legally sound but commercially viable operating models in a fragmented, evolving regulatory environment. It combines commercial legal advisory, regulatory engagement, contract ownership, risk management, and corporate governance, with a strong emphasis on startup experience and operating in evolving regulatory landscapes.
The ideal candidate is a builder - someone who can take legal positions where the law is incomplete, engage constructively with regulators, and create scalable compliance infrastructure while enabling speed and innovation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Legal Advisory & Strategic Support
- Provide proactive legal counsel to founders and senior leadership on business decisions, product strategies, partnerships, and corporate governance.
Act as a thought partner to business, product, operations, and finance teams.
Translate complex legal issues into practical, business-first advice.

Regulatory Strategy & Compliance
Lead compliance across key regulations including licensing, registrations, central & state approvals, industry specific laws, and e-commerce rules.
Actively monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on business operations and new initiatives.
Design compliance frameworks that support fast scaling across multiple states.
Engage directly with regulators and government bodies to clarify compliance obligations and represent AGRIM's positions.
Take legal positions in evolving regulatory landscapes with documented rationale, internal alignment, and regulator-engagement strategy.
Build AGRIM's credibility with regulators, industry bodies, and policy stakeholders through structured engagement, consultations, and representations.

Business Model Structuring & Policy Interpretation
Partner with founders and product teams to legalize new business models (e.g., agent onboarding, platform operations flows, new product categories).
Interpret ambiguous laws and design risk-controlled pilots and launch frameworks.
Balance legal risk with commercial urgency — enabling speed, experimentation, and iteration rather than defaulting to business shutdowns.

Commercial Contracting & Legal Operations
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts including vendor, supplier, logistics, SaaS, channel partner, and partnership agreements.
Own legal process design, documentation workflows, and contracting turnaround time improvements.

AGRIM Litigation, Enforcement & Crisis Management
Oversee litigation, arbitration, regulatory investigations, inspections, show cause and enforcement proceedings while managing budgets, external counsels and case strategy Risk, Policies & Internal Controls
Develop enterprise risk assessments, compliance frameworks, SOPs, and internal control systems.
Build early-warning systems for regulatory and compliance risks.

Corporate Governance & Fundraising Support
Ensure compliance with company law requirements, board processes, statutory filings, and regulatory disclosures.
Support audits, fundraising, investor diligence, and strategic transactions.

REQUIREMENT
- LLB / LLM or equivalent; bar membership preferred.
8-10+ years of post-qualification legal experience.
Significant in-house legal leadership experience in startups or high-growth companies with evolving regulatory landscapes (e.g., fintech, e-commerce, gaming, regulated…
