Description
The Welding Instructor provides tailored career technical training instruction in the area of specialty to facilitate student program completion and credential attainment.
Responsibilities And Duties- Demonstrates and abides by Bizzell Core Values and operating principles.
- Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to ensure maximum student motivation.
- Provides tailored career technical training instruction in the area of specialty to facilitate student program completion and the attainment of employer‑recognized industry certifications.
- Develops lesson plans in accordance with Job Corps training achievement records (TARs) and uses a variety of instructional methods to support student learning and development of employability skills.
- Maintains discipline and manages the learning environment to ensure quality and safety conducive to instruction and learning.
- Maintains strict accountability of students during the training day, takes attendance in real‑time in the Center Information System (CIS) each class period, and assists students to report to the appropriate class when needed.
- Ensures documented accommodations are provided to students in collaboration with the Disability Coordinator.
- Maintains coursework documentation supporting TAR progress in CTT folders.
- Maintains strict compliance with data integrity standards in the completion of TARs and credentials and updates TARs weekly as progress is made.
- Collaborates with academic instructors to provide contextual learning and applied academic lesson plans.
- Participates on the career management team (CMT) to evaluate student progress, provide regular feedback on goals, achievements, and career success skills, and project students for completion.
- Supports the Zero Tolerance policy and center Behavior Management Plan to promote a safe environment and cooperates with center leadership to record student incidents in the appropriate systems.
- Proactively rewards students for achievements and positive behavior and enters positive incident reports in CIS.
- Participates in ongoing professional development and maintains a professional knowledge of the area of specialty to enhance student learning and employability.
- Participates in the center workforce council and networks with employers to promote student work‑based learning and placement opportunities.
- Participates in the student scheduling process and recommends adjustments to best meet student needs.
- Monitors supplies, equipment, and instructional materials and submits work orders, purchase orders, and requests to management in a timely manner.
- Prepares statistical reports and corrective action reports as necessary to achieve positive results.
- Provides positive, quality customer services to students, staff, and other center customers.
- Prepares students to transition from career technical training to the transition period by developing interviewing and employability skills.
- Provides students with career training instruction, direction, and assistance in designated areas of instruction while maintaining a safe and clean environment.
- Motive and counsels students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems, or study habits; coordinates with counselors and other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student training.
- Develops and prepares lessons; recommends curriculum changes and supplemental materials.
- Maintains an organized, clean training environment (behavior and surroundings) conducive to learning.
- Participates in student assessment panels; prepares required documentation and evaluations.
- Administers and corrects tests; maintains progress and attendance reports including required CIS updates. Ensures training achievement records (TARs) are up to date and accurate at all times.
- Controls use of equipment and supplies; makes minor repairs; recommends purchases.
- Participates in providing hands‑on activities for students as part of career exploration; provides feedback to the career preparation staff.
