Our client, a fast-growing accounting and advisory firm, is seeking an Audit Manager to join its expanding assurance team. The firm serves a diverse client base of privately held businesses across manufacturing, real estate, professional services, and other industries. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced audit professional to step into a leadership role within a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment. LOCAL candidates to Monmouth County only should apply, as this is a hybrid position.
The Audit Manager will play a key role in leading audit engagements, mentoring staff, and maintaining strong client relationships while supporting the firm’s continued growth. There will be MINIMAL travel requirements for this role.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage audit and assurance engagements for privately held clients across multiple industries
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise audit engagements from start to finish, ensuring quality, timeliness, and compliance with professional standards
- Review audit work papers, financial statements, and related reports prepared by staff and seniors
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong working relationships
- Assist with audits of employee benefit plans, including 401(k) plans
- Provide guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to audit staff and seniors
- Collaborate with firm leadership on engagement planning, workflow management, and process improvements
- Stay current on relevant accounting, auditing, and regulatory standards
- Prior experience in public accounting audit, including supervisory or managerial responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, GAAS, and audit methodologies.
- Experience working with privately held companies; exposure to manufacturing, real estate, and professional services clients is a plus.
- Familiarity with employee benefit plan audits (401(k) plans) preferred.
- CPA license strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines.
Our client has a competitive compensation structure, in line with market rate (commensurate with experience). They also have full M/D/V, along with 401(K) + match & strong PTO.
