Tax Senior Associate – New Jersey or Long Island

Location: New Jersey or Long Island, NY (onsite or hybrid – adjust as needed)

Reports To: Tax Manager / Partner

Position Summary

We are seeking a Tax Senior Associate to support and lead tax engagements across individual, partnership, and corporate clients. This role is ideal for a tax professional with public accounting experience who wants more client‑facing work, technical development, and a clear path toward Senior and Manager level responsibilities. Opportunities are available in both New Jersey and Long Island offices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review individual, partnership, and corporate income tax returns under the guidance of managers and partners.
  • Assist with tax planning and compliance for closely held businesses and high‑net‑worth individuals.
  • Perform tax research on federal and state issues and prepare supporting work papers and documentation.
  • Communicate with clients to gather information, resolve questions, and support ongoing relationships.
  • Help train and review work of more junior staff where applicable.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and support firm best practices.
  • Participate in meetings and calls with clients, providing timely and accurate follow‑up.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA‑track preferred.
  • 2–5 years of public accounting experience with a focus on tax.
  • Experience preparing 1040, 1065, 1120, and/or 1120S returns.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with tax software (e.g., Lacerte, Pro System, Ultra Tax, or similar).
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
