Part-Time Circulation Assistant

The Johnson Public Library is seeking a part-time library assistant (preferably bilingual, with Spanish fluency) in the Circulation Department.

This is an 18-19 hour per week position, with the possibility of additional hours. The typical schedule would be:

Monday: 5/6 – 9

Tuesday: 5/6
-9

Friday: 1-5

Saturdays: 9 – 5

Some flexibility in scheduling is required.

Duties will include:

• Shelving library materials.
• Organizing, shifting and reading shelves.
• Providing assistance to patrons at the front desk, including registering new library card users.
• Answering phones and directing calls when necessary.
• Other duties as needed/assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bilingual-Spanish preferred.
• Alpha/numeric sorting abilities.
• Physical ability to bend or sit down to tend to bottom shelves, and lift or shift at least 20 pounds of books.
• Operation of standard computer software including Google Docs.
• Respectful customer service skills.
• Patience and enthusiasm are a must!

Salary Range: $16-18 per hour depending on qualifications and Spanish fluency.
