I am partnered with a leading manufacturer of specialty flexible packaging materials and they are seeking a Technical Sales Manager with deep expertise in barrier forming webs for Form-Fill-Seal (FFS) applications used in Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) for the food & healthcare sectors.
The ideal candidate is a technical commercial professional who understands multilayer structures, barrier requirements, and FFS machinability and can partner with food processors to deliver optimized packaging solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Drive commercial growth of barrier forming films/webs designed for FFS and MAP food applications.
- Lead technical collaboration with customers on structure design, barrier performance, machinability, and cost optimisation.
- Provide on-site support during trials, qualifications, and optimizations on a variety of horizontal and vertical FFS lines.
- Identify market needs, competitive gaps, and product development opportunities in thermoforming and flexible barrier packaging.
- Build and manage relationships with food processors, converters, and equipment partners.
- Translate customer requirements into clear specifications for internal R&D and engineering teams.
- Maintain accurate forecasting and account planning.
- 5–10+ years of experience selling or developing barrier forming webs, thermoforming films, or multilayer structures for FFS and MAP food packaging.
- Strong knowledge of EVOH, polyamide, PE/PP, coextrusion processes, and forming/non-forming web interactions would be ideal.
- Demonstrated success selling directly with FFS machinery (e.g., Multivac, Ulma, Reiser, Variovac, etc.).
- Candidates in the Eastern Time Zone strongly preferred.
- North Carolina, Virginia, or New Jersey are considered strong plus locations due to customer and plant proximity.
- Willingness to travel regionally/nationally as required.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage complex accounts.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with a hands-on approach to technical challenges.
