Position: Senior Designer (Electrical)

Reports to: Project Manager
Location: Office in Hackensack, NJ preferred, but we are open to having this candidate report to Flanders or Wall, NJ
Salary Range:$35-$45/hr, based on experience and qualifications

Brief

Description:

Under some direction, routinely plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the Electrical engineering work for the Water and Wastewater, Land Development, Parks and Recreation, and Gas Utility Departments, along interacting with Clients and officials for project tasks, and does other related duties as required. Candidates shall be knowledgeable applicable local, county, state and federal rules, regulations and industry practices. Familiarity with public bidding procedures and Local Public Contracts Law (N.J.S.A. 40A:11-1 et seq.

and N.J.A.C. 5:34) is necessary. Must have the ability to organize assigned work and develop effective work methods.

Schedule:

Candidate can expect to work approximately 100% of their week in the Hackensack, NJ office (hybrid arrangements will be reviewed following 90 days of employment). Company hours are Monday – Friday, 8am to 5pm.

This position generally works standard business hours, Monday through Friday. However, occasional site visits, field work, client meetings, or business-related events may be scheduled outside of normal working hours. Flexibility in schedule is required to meet business and client needs.

Examples of work/duties:
  • Designs, analyzes, and interprets data, along with research and investigations.
  • Perform load calculations, circuit and conductor sizing calculations, protective device coordination studies, Arc Flash calculations, etc.
  • Complete power distribution plan designs, single-line drawings, grounding plans, panel schedules, cable schedules, cable tray layouts, lighting plans, control narratives, control schematics, interconnect diagrams, heat trace drawings, etc.
  • Develop equipment data sheets, bill of materials, submittal reviews and approvals, etc.
  • Assign tasks to technical and administrative staff as needed.
  • Performs a thorough review of completed work.
  • Assists with scheduling and budgetary requirements.
  • Assists with proposals and project close outs.
  • Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of technical assignments.

  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 3 years’ experience.
  • PE License Track Preferred.
  • Microsoft Office
  • 0-4160V applications
  • AutoCAD (specifically MEP and Electrical), Plant 3D, and/or REVIT
  • Arc Flash, ETAP, and SKM
  • 120V-480V single and three phase power infrastructure and affiliated backup power
