CPA - Tax Manager

DSF Advisors (DSF), founded in 2020 by experienced CPA Wilfredo Rodriguez, is a boutique advisory firm based in the New York City Metropolitan Area specializing in outsourced finance and operations solutions for emerging asset managers, real estate investors, and professional services firms. DSF provides fractional CFO services, accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance, and back-office support, as well as fund operations including trade settlements and investor relations.

In addition, DSF offers strategic advisory and consulting services such as manager and fund formation, due diligence, financial modeling, and organizational restructurings—delivering comprehensive financial and operational support across the full lifecycle of its clients’ businesses.

DSF Advisors has grown its tax practice and is seeking a Tax Manager for a full-time, Hybrid position located in Bergen County, NJ. In this role, the Tax Manager will oversee tax compliance and planning, manage tax preparation processes, and ensure adherence to tax laws and regulations. Responsibilities include providing strategic tax planning advice to clients, preparing and reviewing tax returns, staying updated on relevant tax legislation and compliance standards, and collaborating with clients to develop effective tax strategies.

• Prepare, review, and sign federal and state tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1065, 1120S, and 1120
• Manage partnership tax compliance for private equity and hedge fund structures
• Review and analyze K-1 allocations, capital accounts, basis, and investor reporting
• Provide year-round tax planning and advisory services to investment and business clients
• Review work prepared by staff and ensure technical accuracy and compliance
• Oversee, mentor, and manage junior tax and accounting professionals, including workflow planning, technical guidance, and performance feedback
• Handle IRS and State notices and correspondence
• Serve as a primary point of contact for client tax matters
• Maintain compliance with CPA professional standards and firm policies

• Ability and willingness to sign tax returns
• 5+ years of tax experience in public accounting
• Strong knowledge of partnership taxation, small businesses and individuals
• Experience with private equity, hedge funds, or investment partnerships and individuals
• Excellent analytical, organizational, communication and client-service skills
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines independently

• Experience with carried interest, waterfalls, blocker entities, and complex allocations
• Familiarity with multi-state and investor reporting
• Prior experience in a small or mid-sized CPA firm
• Proficiency with tax software such as Ultra Tax, Lacerte, Pro Series, or Drake
• Experience reviewing staff work and mentoring junior professionals
