Position: Tax Director, US Planning - $250K + Bonus

Overview

The search division recruits highly skilled professionals for Contract and Permanent positions. We service our clients primarily in the NYC Metro area as well nationally through our AAFA and NPA networks.

The Senior Director, U.S. Tax Planning will play a critical role in shaping and executing the company’s domestic tax planning agenda. This position partners closely with cross-functional teams across the organization to design, implement, and support tax strategies that enhance enterprise value. The role sits within the Corporate Tax function, which oversees both U.S. and international tax matters and operates as a strategic advisory group within the broader Finance organization.

Responsibilities
  • Design and execute U.S. tax planning strategies, including domestic transfer pricing, legal entity restructuring, and transaction-related planning, to support long-term shareholder value.
  • Direct technical tax research, computations, and formal documentation for federal and state income tax issues.
  • Lead U.S. tax diligence for prospective mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, along with post-transaction structuring and integration activities.
  • Partner with tax planning, reporting, finance, legal, HR, and compliance teams to ensure tax strategies are implemented accurately, risks are managed, and transactions are properly reflected in financial statements, tax filings, and ASC 740.
  • Identify and pursue federal and state tax credit and incentive opportunities, including financial modeling, documentation, and coordination with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate filings.
  • Drive automation and process improvement initiatives within the Tax function to increase operational efficiency and scalability.
  • Manage special projects and ad hoc initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
  • CPA/MST strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive experience with deep technical expertise in U.S. federal and state taxation.
  • Hands-on experience with mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, including familiarity with complex domestic and cross-border structures.
  • Strong knowledge of tax accounting under U.S. GAAP, including ASC 740.
