Bank Accountant

The Bank Accountant provides back-office and accounting support for 1st Bergen Federal Credit Union, supporting the collection and analysis of member information, risk trends, & credit union financial performance, as well as ensuring the efficient operation of the credit union.

Responsibilities:
  • Process daily FedACH advice slips and reconcile ACH debits and credits.
  • Prepare a daily account reconciliation worksheet for processing by analyzing daily financial reports and general ledger totals.
  • Research out-of-balance conditions & teller error corrections and notify appropriate staff of resolutions.
  • Assist appropriate staff with month-end & quarter-end data analysis and reporting.
  • Verify daily processing of ACH, Share Draft, and ATM Network exceptions.
  • Analyze the daily transaction journal for evidence of brute-force fraud attempts.
  • Monitor card fraud notifications and notify the Member Support team to contact cardholders when necessary.
  • Assist in processing, tracking, and updating cardholder disputes.
  • Support the Member Support team with backup and research.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1-year related experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and visualization tools
  • Preferred:
    Prior experience in banking, credit union, or other financial organization
  • Preferred:
    Experience with fundamental accounting principles
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate with community partners and interagency departments

Schedule:

25 hours per week
