Electrophysiology Technologist
The Electrophysiology Technologist will assist physicians with all invasive cardiac, peripheral diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures. This includes temporary and permanent pacemaker placement. The technologist will assist with circulatory support devices as indicated. Responsibilities include preparing and organizing specific equipment and sterile trays for each procedure. The technologist will assist the procedure room team with the positioning and preparation of patient monitoring.
Calibration and testing of transducers for accurate pressure readings is required. Assisting physicians throughout diagnostic and interventional procedures is essential. The technologist will load and operate the power injector and associated sterile support equipment. Maneuvering the table controls for physicians as requested is part of the role. Calibrating hemodynamic monitoring equipment and obtaining, calculating, and analyzing all hemodynamic data during procedures is necessary.
The technologist will calculate and record cardiac output and oximetry readings. Utilization and maintenance of digital cine technologies for storage and retrieval of patient images and hemodynamic records is expected. Assisting with vascular access, sheath removal, and hemostatic closure devices while maintaining hemostasis at the access site is required. Inventory control and preparation of required equipment for each procedure must be managed.
Adherence to practice requirements related to Clinical Cardiovascular Information Systems is necessary. The technologist operates equipment safely and prepares it for use. Participation in the catheterization lab on-call responsibilities as per organizational policy is required. Application of radial access banding while maintaining hemostasis at the access site is expected. Recognizing and interpreting all cardiac arrhythmias is necessary. The technologist will assist with maintenance, calibration, and routine periodic evaluation of diagnostic and technical equipment.
