Job Description
Night Shift 12 hours/day 3 days/week
The Registered Respiratory Therapist, under the supervision of the Director of Respiratory Services, Technical Supervisor, and Shift Supervisors, provides and administers all aspects of Respiratory Care Therapy and supportive equipment as stated in the Department Policy and Procedure Manual.
Essential Job Functions- Providing respiratory therapy under medical direction, in the education, treatment, management, and diagnostic evaluation and care of patients in the hospital with deficiencies of the cardiopulmonary system
- Performing intubation assistance as well as ventilator set-up and management
- Gathering all information necessary to properly evaluate the patient's needs, including patient-specific disease education as well as testing and consultations with other health care professionals, as appropriate
- Developing a rapport and mutual respect with the patient/caregiver, as well as team members, to foster an optimum environment in support of goal achievement
- Providing and documenting education to patients/caregivers based upon identified needs in an understandable manner
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior
- Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 5 lbs., and stands a minimum of 1 hour a day
- Regular contact with medical personnel and its visitors
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned
- The ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs
- A strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of patients and their caregivers

- The ability and passion to deliver the highest quality of care based on a strong sense of patient focus
- Mechanical ventilation management
- Airway management
- Arterial blood gas analysis
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities for patient education
- Critical thinking and problem-solving for fast decision-making
- High adaptability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Required: 1 year
- Preferred: 3 years
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited program in Respiratory Therapy
- BLS – AHA
- ACLS
- PALS
- Current and valid New Jersey Respiratory Care license
- Current and valid NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification
- Resume review required; candidates will also be required to complete either an in-person or video interview
- Location/Facility: OUMC
- Shift: 7PM – 7AM
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: 1 Summer and 1 Winter
- On-Call Requirement: No
- Float Requirement: No
