A leading law firm is currently seeking a skilled and proactive Legal Practice Assistant (LPA) to join its New Jersey office. This full-time position offers the opportunity to provide high-level administrative and legal support to attorneys across multiple practice areas, including Bankruptcy, Corporate, Environmental, Litigation, Real Estate, Tax, and Trusts & Estates.
Position Summary:
The Legal Practice Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of attorneys and contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the legal teams. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of legal administrative experience in a law firm or legal department setting, with a proven track record of managing a wide range of responsibilities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys and associates across multiple practice groups.
- Manage and maintain attorney calendars, including scheduling meetings, court dates, and client appointments.
- Prepare and revise correspondence, legal documents, and presentations with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Handle filing and document management, both electronically and in physical format.
- Assist with time entry, expense reporting, and billing processes.
- Coordinate travel arrangements and handle related logistics for attorneys.
- Act as a liaison between attorneys, clients, courts, and other parties as needed.
- Ensure that all administrative processes are executed efficiently and with a high level of professionalism.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a legal assistant or legal secretary within a law firm or corporate legal department.
- Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures, particularly in the areas of Bankruptcy, Corporate, Environmental, Litigation, Real Estate, Tax, and Trusts & Estates.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and staff at all levels.
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong sense of confidentiality, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with document management systems, such as iManage, is preferred.
- Familiarity with InTapp or other legal workflow tools is a strong plus.
This position operates in a professional legal office setting. The successful candidate must be able to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team, while demonstrating initiative, flexibility, and a strong work ethic.
