The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) is a skilled registered nurse who communicates, collaborates and leads authentically. The ANM supports the organization in executing the nursing strategic plan, provides operational and administrative support to Nurse leadership, coordinates staffing, supports throughput, quality and safety outcomes, and collaborates on unit and hospital decision‑making. The ANM works with the Nurse Manager and front‑line staff to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate nursing practice and care delivery.
Responsibilities- Participate in recruitment and retention strategies
- Assist with unit huddles and leader rounding with employees
- Participate in unit goal creation reflecting hospital goals and mission
- Lead or participate in evidence‑based practice projects or research
- Lead or participate in unit‑based or hospital‑based shared governance committees or councils
- Resolve conflicts and facilitate constructive resolutions
- Complete employee corrective action plans/counseling as necessary
- Adhere to HMH's organizational and managerial competencies and standards of behavior
- Prepare and conduct periodic performance evaluations for assigned staff members
- Contribute to or monitor the unit orientation process of all roles as necessary
- Model cultural competence, social justice and fairness, and capitalize on generational diversity to foster highly effective work groups
- NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License
- Minimum of an Associate in Nursing or diploma with BSN in progress and willing to acquire within three years of hire
- Minimum 3 years recent nursing experience in the specialty or equivalent required
- AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification required
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs with strong accountability for improving patient and caregiver lives; focus on teamwork and ongoing education
- National certification acceptable to the Magnet Recognition Program and appropriate to current specialty (within two years of hire)
- Supervisory or charge nurse experience preferred
