Service Overview
The Hackensack University Medical Center APP Trauma Service provides direct and indirect patient care optimizing patient safety to a patient population consisting of, but not limited to, clients from GI/GU, thoracic, vascular, neurosurgery, GYN oncology, trauma, OB-GYN, and orthopedic subspecialties. 24/7/365 coverage rotating with the APP team.
Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) RoleThe Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) or Physician Assistant utilizes a patient-centered coordinated care model, demonstrating competencies in leadership, direct clinical practice, consultation/collaboration, coaching/guiding, research, and ethical decision-making. The APP works collaboratively with the practice/hospital team to assess, plan, and implement care for individuals with health and safety needs.
Education, Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
Required (APN)
- Graduate of an NLN/AACN accredited nursing program.
- Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Maintains clinical competencies through continuing education and clinical practice.
- Experience in a relevant patient care setting (or as regulations dictate).
- National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Prescriptive authority through CDS and DEA registration according to New Jersey state law.
- Collaborative agreement with physicians on staff.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
Skills and Abilities
Preferred (APN)
- Not Applicable.
- NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
- Advance Practice Nurse License.
- BLS AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
- Board certified by AANP or ANCC.
- AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
Skills and Abilities
Required (PA)
- Successful completion of an approved physician's assistant program, accredited by the AMA Council on Medical Education.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
- Physician Assistant License.
- National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- BLS AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
- AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
