Advanced Practice Nurse (APN)
The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) utilizes a patient-centered coordinated care model, demonstrating competencies in leadership, direct clinical practice, consultation/collaboration, coaching/guiding, research, and ethical decision-making. The APN works collaboratively with the practice/hospital team to assess, plan, and implement care for individuals with health and safety needs. Outpatient Interventional Pain Management department.
Responsibilities include performing and documenting accurate, complete, and relevant history and physical assessments, ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and diagnostic studies/procedures, managing general medical and surgical conditions, prescribing medication safely and effectively, promoting Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) APN practice recognition, providing patient- and family-centered care, adhering to HMH nursing protocols, applying evidence-based and value-based medicine, facilitating consistent, coordinated care, serving as an advocate for patients and families, participating in clinical research activities, and adhering to the legal framework and scope of practice defined by the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs.
Qualifications include a graduate of an NLN/AACN accredited nursing program, a master's or doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, maintaining clinical competencies through continuing education and clinical practice, experience in a relevant patient care setting, national provider identifier (NPI), prescriptive authority through CDS and DEA registration according to New Jersey state law, collaborative agreement with physicians on staff, excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficient computer skills, NJ state professional registered nurse license, advance practice nurse license, BLS AHA basic health care life support HCP certification, board certification by AANP or ANCC, and advanced cardiac life support certification.
