The Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital Level IIIC NICU at Hackensack University Medical Center Neonatology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant utilizes a patient-centered coordinated care model, demonstrating competencies in leadership, direct clinical practice, consultation/collaboration, coaching/guiding, research, and ethical decision-making. The APN works collaboratively with the practice/hospital team to assess, plan, and implement care for individuals with health and safety needs.
Part-Time (20 hrs/wee k) position
APNs must have NNP cert. PA's must have either NICU fellowship or prior Neonatal experience.
Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) operates a 48-bed, state-designated Regional Perinatal Center at Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital in Hackensack, NJ. The unit offers specialized services including whole-body cooling, high-frequency ventilation, and is the first in New Jersey to earn Disease-Specific Care certification in prematurity care.

Education,Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Graduate of an NLN/AACN accredited nursing program.
- Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Maintains clinical competencies through continuing education and clinical practice.
- Experience in a relevant patient care setting (or as regulations dictate).
- National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Prescriptive authority through CDS and DEA registration according to New Jersey state law.
- Collaborative agreement with physicians on staff.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
- Not Applicable.
Required:
- NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
- Advance Practice Nurse License.
- BLS AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
- Board certified by AANP or ANCC.
- AHA. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
- NNP cert
