Position: Mobile Diesel Mechanic II 11am - 11pm

Mobile Diesel Technician II

Shift: 11:00 am – 11:00 pm

Headquartered in Indianapolis, Cox Fleet is a leading provider of on‑site mobile maintenance and repair services for light, medium, and heavy‑duty trucks and trailers.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Complete minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck components, including electrical, brake, cooling, and drivetrain systems.
  • Insist on quality by inspecting, testing, and listening to equipment and using hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
  • Road‑test vehicles to confirm proper operation.
  • Use hand tools and electronic diagnostic equipment to identify malfunctions and generate solutions.
  • Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, including safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
  • Manage parts inventory and perform periodic reconciliation.
  • Work independently, managing daily schedule and prioritizing tasks.
  • Document work on repair orders (RO) using the iOS device and the TRAIT application.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and all required documentation.
  • Communicate with clients and management via email or phone for approvals, purchase orders, and repair findings.
  • Perform all work in compliance with safety policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • At least 3 years of refrigerated equipment experience is required.
  • Own a complete set of hand tools necessary to perform job duties.
  • OEM training and certifications preferred.
  • Must successfully complete and pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical.
  • Valid DOT medical card with at least 4 months remaining, or a DOT physical if less time remains.
  • Minimum age 21 years.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File.
  • Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; physically fit for repetitive tasks.
Required Certifications (to be obtained within 18 months)
  • ASE T8 (PMI) certification
  • ASE 608/609 certification*
Preferred Certifications
  • ASE T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, T8, L1, L2, and A8 certifications
Skills & Abilities
  • Logical and analytical problem‑solving skills.
  • Effective two‑way communication.
  • Ability to determine the appropriate tools and equipment for various tasks.
  • Proficiency in using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  • Physical endurance for long periods of standing, walking, and repetitive work.
Compensation

Hourly pay range: $32.07 – $48.13 per hour. Pay may include commissions or incentive programs as applicable.
