Position: Mobile Diesel Mechanic II 11am - 11pm

Shift - 11:00 am - 11:00 pm

We are supported by a 24/7 in‑house call‑center and provide scheduled maintenance services and unscheduled services to fleets anywhere, anytime.

Cox Fleet is currently hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician II.

Duties
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, differentials, etc.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, air conditioning, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  • Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
  • Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and evaluate alternatives using sound judgment.
  • Manage parts inventory and equipment on company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conducting safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
  • Work with clients to assess their needs, providing assistance and resolving problems.
  • Prioritize concurrent assigned tasks and manage time allocations efficiently.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
  • Document work according to company standards and upload pictures, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders using an iOS device and the proprietary TRAIT application.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and all other documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Work independently and manage daily schedule.
  • Maintain a high level of productivity and work within or close to most Standard Repair Times.
  • Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for repairs.
  • Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain repair estimate approvals, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss Repair Order findings.
  • Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
  • Maintain the company‑issued service truck and conduct safety checks and daily pre/post trip inspections.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field. Alternative combinations include a degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED; or 5 years’ experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for required duties.
  • OEM training and certifications are preferred.
  • Participate in and complete all company‑required training.
  • Ability to successfully complete and pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical.
  • A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical.
  • Candidates must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Valid driver’s license required; candidate must maintain a Driver Qualification File.

  • ASE T8 (PMI) certification
